A new path for Microsoft

Microsoft has flooded the market with a new advertising campaign before the much anticipated release of Windows 8 on October 26, 2012.  The new commercials also highlight the new Surface tablet.  Other new products include Windows for computers, tablets, and smartphones; upgraded version of Skype; software for Xbox; and music and movie service.  It is not just an advertising campaign for Windows and Surface tablet.  It clearly shows off its new direction according to ad tracking company Ace Metrix.

Traditionally Microsoft depended on HP, Dell, Intel and others to develop hardware to run its software.  But the Surface tablet and Windows Mobile 8 clearly indicates that it want to compete with Apple and Google for new hardware too.  Its new direction revolves around Windows 8.  That’s why they came up with lots of new slick things like tiles in Windows 8.

Along with new products, Microsoft is also showing its forceful presence in cloud computing.  Windows 8 can wrap around the PC, tablet, and smartphone with one log in.  Songs you buy on your tablet can be played on your PC at home.  Your smartphone can act as a remote for your TV or Xbox.
