For the first time in the history of the iPhone, Apple will be releasing the newest inundation of the device less than a year after the beginning of the iPhone 4’s life cycle. There’s a school of thought that believes this is in direct response to the new Android VS iOS, which directly rivals the iPhone’s target base in terms of power, speed, and usability. At this time, top level executives from both Apple and carrier corporations such as Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T are rumored to be using the device, testing for last minute hiccups and glitches that could stunt sales if not fixed before release. Speaking of the release date, the current guess is that the iPhone 5 will be put in stores sometime this September, officially moving it out of the summer cycle as previously assumed by the media.
In terms of new features, the iPhone 5 is focusing primarily on the software, not the hardware of the device. This makes logical sense, with the new operating system ‘MAC OS 10.7 Lion’ for computers and the iOS 5 for the iPhone. This is the first major upgrade to the mobile operating system platform since the iPhone 4 was released. In addition to a new OS, the more notable change is Apple’s creation of the iCloud, which could drastically increase the power and capabilities of an already dominant device.
The iPhone 5 will be a great spectacle upon its release in Sepetember, especially those viewing its software in comparison to the current Droid models on the market.
