Windows
Plug-ins will let you supercharge your standard office and Internet applications, they're easy to set up and most are free.
Process Explorer
Process Explorer displays more details about processes under Windows than Task Manager. If you want to know what's running on your system at a given moment, Process Explorer can help. You can set up the program so it replaces the Task Manager by choosing Options/Replace Task Manager. This will bring up Process Explorer when you press Ctrl & Alt & Del and show you what's running behind the processes
Tweakomatic
One of the best-known Microsoft utilities is TweakUI, which lets you customize parts of the Windows UI. However, you can only use TweakUI locally.
Tweakomatic has no such restriction and can be used on remote computers to tune multiple PCs. Assemble configuration scripts using the WMI helper utility, then export them for networked PCs.
